Sifu Frank Roper

When I was 2, I dreamed about a bumble bee and in the morning when I
opened my eyes I saw a praying mantis and a bumble bee fighting. From that
day forward I had a desire to move like a mantis and a bumble bee. The next
day my cousin who was in love with Bruce Lee beat me all over the room and
said you should learn kung fu from my teacher. The teacher's name was Sifu
Frashure. He taught me the elementary movements of Shaolin footwork.
This began my long journey to kung fu excellence.

My first and most impressive teacher was Sifu Lee Yum. He taught Tai Chi
Chuan and Wing Chun along with some basic 8 Diagram and Daoshu
elementary movements. My years spent with Sifu Lee were very beneficial
but at just 6 years old both Sifu Lee and Sifu Frashure agreed that I would be
a kung fu prodigy. So they encouraged me to learn more and I began
Taekwondo under Sherman Fog. Under his instruction I learned much more
about moral content and ethical thinking. After receiving my teaching status
under Sifu Fog I returned to my love of kung fu under my favorite and most
loved teaher Sui He Ho. Under his instruction I learned the Yi Ji Jing, Wu
Shing Chuan, Lohan Boxing, Hung Gar Tiger and Crane fists. I also learned
some forms that Sifu Sui developed from Sue Yuan 5 Animal Frolics. This
pattern was derived from the creational and destructional rotation of the 5
elements. Sifu Sui continued to instruct me in many more arts until I was 25
years old. Sifu Sui introduced me to both his cousin and his brother who
taught me many weapon forms. At his death I began practicing Chen Style
Tai Chi Chuan and later met Sigung Chen Quanzhong whom I am currently
under and teaching Chen Style Tai Chi Chuan here in Atlanta.

I am embarking on a journey of self exploration through the expression of
creative martial movement. I have organized these movements into 5 special
forms and they are known as Temple Boxing. I hope to share both old and
new martial arts knowledge and experience with the kung fu world. I myself
have enjoyed the learning, practice, and experience of the ring san da and
the actual use of martial arts in combat. I now want to invite you into the
wonderful health, defense and self examination which comes with the
learning and the practice of kung fu and the journey to excellence.

Yours Truly,
Sifu Roper
